Abstract

Hari Darmawan is a brave man who used the sun to change the Indonesian retail industry. It succeeded in increasing sales and expanding market share by using consumer-focused strategies, product diversification, marketing innovation and improving the shopping experience. Matahari is still able to maintain its position as a market leader, despite facing challenges from e-commerce competition and changes in consumer behavior. This success provides an example for other businesses in Indonesia to continue to innovate and adapt to market dynamics. Hari Darmawan and Januar Darmawan are brothers who have successfully built Nutrifood Indonesia into a top player in the consumer goods sector with leading brands such as Tropicana Slim, L-Men, WRP, HILO and Nutrisari. They pioneered the development of the Company. In his book entitled "Sustainable Growth", in the process of transforming Nutrifood Indonesia throughout the last decade of the 20th century, I discovered, chose and made the decision to adopt Deming's philosophy. I applied the same thing when building a venture capital business network in the last few years, and so far the results have been satisfactory.
