Abstract

Nowadays, the competition among banks is higher than ten years ago. The performance of Islamic bank in Indonesia have to be better than before in the new era of ASEAN Economic Community. To assess the performance of bank is very important, there are many ways, one other thing is looked to efficiency, profitability, and soundness of bank. The aims of this study is to know the level of cost efficiency, profitability, and soundness among Islamic Banks (BUS) in Indonesia. In this case, Bank Muamalat Indonesia (BMI), Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM), Bank Syariah Mega (BSM), BRIS Syariah (BRIS), and Bank Syariah Bukopin (BSB) are investigated during January 2010 to December 2013. Using parametric approach namely Stochastic Frontier Approach (SFA) to calculate efficiency, using ROA’s ratio to calculate profitability, and using CAMEL’s ratio to calculate soundness of bank. The result show that the BMS is the greatest level of cost efficiency among Islamic Banks in Indonesia which the input and output influence BMS efficiency are personnel expenses, cost-sharing expenses, and total financing which owned. And at analysis of profitability, the result show that the BMS is the greatest level of profitability which factors influencing of profitability of BMS is BOPO’s ratio. As well as on the analysis of the bank soundness, BMI occupied the highest health level with the CAR, KAP, ROA, FDR, and NPM significant effect on the level of health.
