ESTIMASI FUNGSI DAN MODEL PRESTASI BELAJAR MAHASISWA
Abstract
Education process (in the university) is a production process. Thus, learning activity or process is a short term production process. In the short term production function, then, the law of diminishing marginal return applies. To estimate the optimal number of students in a class room, curves estimation method was employed. A learning performance model where midterm test score was considered as dependent variable and GPA (IPK), attendance (K), relative value of mathematics (MATH), major in high school (JUR), number of lessons tested in the same day (JUTS), and gender (JK) were categorized as independent variables. Using the regression methods approach, then model was tested by cross sectional data. The study indicated the existence of the law of diminishing marginal return related to the growing number of students in a classroom. Economic efficiency is obtained when the sum of the students is 58; with the average score of 42.30. However, if the objective of learning function is technically efficient or the average maximum score per student, the optimal number of the students is 40, with the average midterm test score of 49,83.Published
