Abstract

One of the most prevailing requirements to building trustworthy and fairly competitive banking industry nowadays is the improvement of ethical capital of national banking organizations along with the enforcement of good governance principles and practices. This article addresses the problem of how to develop a holistic and integrative system of organizational ethics for individual banking organizations. Based on the works of Murray (1997) and Hitt (1990), the paper begets a value-based model of banking decision making integrated to organizational strategy. The model engaged the four ethical systems as an ascending hierarchy as well as the moral development in investigating the banking ethical problems. Concerning the importance of having a truly workable system of ethics of each individual banking organization, the discussion brings about with two corollary aspects, i.e., the creation of ethical infrastructures and the intrusion of overall servant leadership as the precedence of ethical banking organizations.
